Jammu Club : Club History

Jammu Club, Jammu came into existence on the 13th April 1978 and the foundation stone of the premises was laid through the August hands of the then Chief Minister Late Jenab Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. The first meeting of the Club was held on the 27th July 1978 at 06:00 pm and S. Sohan Singh was elected as Vice Chairman unanimously to conduct the proceedings of the meeting. Late Col. Ram Singh was the first Secretary of the Club.

It will not be out of place to mention the velour and zest displayed by the members at the formation stage despite so many hardships. The first Patron H.E. Shri L.K. Jha, the first President Late Jenab Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, and the first Vice President was Mr. Justice Jalal-u-Din. They carried forward the flag of Jammu Club, Jammu, to new heights by their selfless dedication.

The Club was formally declared opened on the 15th August 1978, as the possession of the Club building was taken over by the Club Management.

M/s R.C. Gupta and Co. were appointed the first Auditors of Jammu Club.
